Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and track how you use the site.

This Cookie Policy explains how iXBRL Generator ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on the iXBRL Generator service ("Service").

2. Cookies We Use

Great news! This Service does NOT use any cookies. We use a cookieless analytics solution (Umami) that respects your privacy without storing any data on your device.

Currently, we do not set any cookies on your device. The Service is completely stateless and does not require cookies for:

  • User authentication (no login required)
  • Session management (all processing is stateless)
  • Analytics tracking (Umami is cookieless)
  • Preferences storage (not implemented)

Additional Privacy Benefits: We do NOT use third-party advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any invasive tracking technologies. Your privacy is important to us.

3. Cookieless Analytics with Umami

We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service, to understand how visitors use our Service. Umami helps us:

  • Identify which pages are most visited
  • Understand user journeys through the site
  • Detect technical issues or errors
  • Improve the Service based on real usage patterns

What makes Umami privacy-friendly?

  • No cookies used - Umami does not set any cookies on your device
  • No personally identifiable information (PII) collected
  • IP addresses are NOT stored
  • No cross-site tracking
  • No data sold to third parties
  • Fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR
  • Open-source and auditable

Because Umami does not use cookies and does not track personal data, it does not require explicit consent under PECR. However, you can still opt out of analytics tracking if you prefer (see Section 5).

Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) - anonymous analytics to improve the Service without invasive tracking.

4. How We Track Usage Without Cookies

Instead of using cookies, we use cookieless analytics (Umami) to:

  • Analyze usage: Understand how the Service is used to make improvements
  • Detect issues: Identify bugs and performance problems
  • Improve user experience: Optimize navigation and features based on usage patterns

We do NOT use cookies or any tracking for:

  • Targeted advertising
  • Social media tracking
  • Selling your data to third parties
  • Building personal profiles for marketing
  • Cross-site tracking

5. How to Opt Out of Analytics

Since we don't use cookies, there are no cookies to block or manage. However, if you wish to opt out of our cookieless analytics tracking, you can:

5.1 Do Not Track (DNT)

We honor "Do Not Track" signals. If you enable DNT in your browser, we will not track your activity with analytics.

How to enable Do Not Track:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Send a "Do Not Track" request
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Send websites a "Do Not Track" signal
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Prevent cross-site tracking (enabled by default)

5.2 Browser Extensions

You can use privacy-focused browser extensions to block analytics scripts:

  • uBlock Origin: Blocks ads and tracking scripts
  • Privacy Badger: Blocks invisible trackers
  • Ghostery: Identifies and blocks tracking scripts

5.3 Contact Us

If you have concerns about analytics tracking, please contact us at [email protected] and we can discuss your specific requirements.

6. Impact of Blocking Analytics

Blocking our cookieless analytics will NOT affect your ability to use the Service. The Service will function completely normally, but we won't be able to track anonymous usage statistics to improve the experience.

Important: Since we don't use cookies, blocking cookies in your browser will have no effect on our analytics. The Service doesn't use cookies at all.

7. Third-Party Services

We do NOT use third-party advertising or social media cookies. The only third-party service we use is:

Umami does not set any cookies and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR without requiring cookie consent.

8. Updates to Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in:

  • The cookies we use
  • How we use cookies
  • Legal or regulatory requirements

We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and posting a notice on the Service.

9. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and PECR, you have the right to:

  • Know what cookies are being set
  • Refuse or opt out of non-essential cookies
  • Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time
  • Access data collected via cookies (minimal in our case)
  • Request deletion of cookie data

For more information about your data rights, see our Privacy Policy.
