The iXBRL Micro-Entity Accounts Generator is a free web application designed to help UK micro-entity companies prepare their statutory accounts in iXBRL format for filing with Companies House.

It simplifies the complex process of XBRL tagging by:

  • Automatically calculating totals and subtotals
  • Validating balance sheet balancing and business rules
  • Generating compliant iXBRL documents using FRC taxonomies

This tool is ideal for small business owners, accountants, and bookkeepers who need a straightforward way to produce Companies House-compliant accounts without expensive software.

What This Tool Does NOT Do

  • Support consolidated/group accounts
  • Prepare directors' reports or notes
  • Calculate or file your tax return

Limitations & Scope

This tool is ONLY for:

  • Micro-entity companies only (meeting FRS 105 criteria)
  • UK jurisdiction (FRC taxonomies, Companies House filing)
  • Simple structures (no consolidation, no group accounts)
  • Stateless operation (no data persistence, no user accounts)

Not supported: Dividend tracking, share capital movements, fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, notes to accounts, directors' reports, auditor's reports, consolidated accounts, multi-currency, or customized taxonomies.

If your company needs any of these features, please use professional accounting software or consult an accountant.

No Data Retention

This application does not store your financial data. All processing happens in your browser and on our server temporarily. Once you close your browser, your data is gone. Always save your generated files locally.

Acceptance by Companies House

While this tool generates iXBRL files designed to comply with Companies House requirements, we cannot guarantee that Companies House will accept your filing. Their validation system may detect issues not caught by this tool. Always test your files with their validation service before final submission.
